Meet Dr. Mark and Dr. Krista Bassett
Dr. Mark and Dr. Krista Bassett are a husband and wife team and proud graduates of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Their passion for chiropractic began long before they entered the profession, shaped by personal experiences that changed their own lives.
Dr. Mark discovered chiropractic in 1995 while studying pre-med at Wayne State University. He developed sudden and severe allergies that kept him indoors and disrupted his daily life. After trying to avoid lifelong medication, he visited his auntās chiropractor. A gentle adjustment brought noticeable relief and allowed him to enjoy the outdoors again. The impact was so strong that he began working in that office and chose chiropractic college instead of medical school.
Dr. Kristaās journey started even earlier. At age 11 she struggled with lower back pain, and a visit to her familyās chiropractor helped her recover. The care she received inspired her, and by 16 she was working in that same practice. Seeing firsthand how chiropractic helped people clarified her calling, and she soon pursued her own chiropractic education.
Today they serve the community through Bassett Family Chiropractic. Their mission is to help patients get out of pain, restore proper function and experience their best health. Their shared background and personal stories guide the compassionate care they bring to every family they serve.

Once I go to a chiropractor, will I always have to go?
No, you can decide how often you want to come in for care. Once they get out of pain, some of our patients will choose to get regular preventative care because they want to continue to feel great. Consider this: we don't think twice about getting our teeth cleaned regularly, so it makes sense to keep our spine aligned too!
Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?
On the contrary, most of the time, adjustments feel great!
Why would I have my newborn or young child adjusted?
Every human, including babies and kids, has a spine! While kiddos may not have back pain, that doesn't mean their spines are in alignment. Gentle and regular chiropractic care can help maintain your baby's or child's spinal health, supporting their proper growth and functioning.
Does insurance cover chiropractic visits?
Many insurances have some chiropractic coverage, but what we won't do is base your care on what your insurance coverage is. Everyone's condition is different, and so should their treatment plan.
Will I get adjusted on my first visit?
Most likely, you will not be adjusted on the first visit. Your chiropractor will thoroughly examine you and take an X-ray to understand the appropriate and specific adjustment for you. Taking a customized, not cookie-cutter, approach is one of the things that make us different. You would never ask a plumber to put a sink in without knowing what's in the wall. As a Gonstead chiropractor, we want to know that it is safe for you to be adjusted and analyze the X-ray for the proper adjustment.
Will you suggest exercises or other things I can do?
Yes! That's because chiropractic care is just one aspect of a healthy lifestyle. We will often recommend stretching and exercises to help support our adjustments.
Can someone who has had back surgery see a chiropractor?
Absolutely. The reality is we see a lot of patients who have had back surgery and still have pain. One of the Gonstead method's goals is to be very specific, so we can treat areas above and below the surgery to help provide relief.
